People will only be able to meet two households plus an additional single person household in Wales over the festive period by law. The Welsh Government has clarified that guidance set by the first minister on Wednesday will be set out in regulations.

Wales will enter alert level 4 from 28 December, the most similar level of restrictions to the first lockdown or the firebreak in the autumn. However, unlike then, schools and childcare will stay open.

Not far from Swansea is a valley village and area where the number of people testing positive for coronavirus is rising rapidly.  Clydach and Mawr have reported 133 cases of Covid-19, which equates to 1,395.7 cases per 100,000 people, over a seven day average between December 4 and 10 - the highest rate in the City and County of Swansea.

Comparing it with a Welsh overall rate of 416 it shows that it is massively higher than the place with the biggest case rate - Merthyr Tydfil with 822. Elsewhere in Swansea, Brynmill has the next highest rate with 854, while Swansea overall has a rate of 624.

Not only has the steep rise shocked those living locally, but the community now has one of the highest case rates in Wales.
