Everyone knows that generally the Christmas period
lasts until 12th night when the decorations are taken down. Today we
are clear of the Christmas Day/Boxing Day period and in Wales Tier 4 has been
reinstated after the release for Christmas Day. I wonder how many homes and
families have adhered to the Lockdown guidelines, by the numbers I am seeing today, it appears
to be disappointing, but note that this data covers
a 48 hour period (9am 24th December to 9am 26th December) instead of the usual
24 hour period.
New Year celebrations come next, 2020 will be
forever inducted into history, we can only hope that the vaccination programme
comes out on top and 2021 rolls forward with a sense of freedom and respite for
everyone that is currently suffering from the virus, comfort for those families
that have lost loved ones and removing the threat of infection from those that
have been lucky enough to avoid any virus symptoms.
The population of Wales and the rest of the UK are resilient and life will continue through the dark tunnels that are before us, lights will appear faintly and hopefully they will transform into beams of brightness that will at last break the stranglehold this nightmare has on all of us.
