There have been 2,424 new cases of coronavirus reported
today by PHW bringing the total cases to 784,811. There were 11 coronavirus
deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths rises to 6,844. The latest infection rate based on PCR
tests, for the seven days up to
January 29, now stands at 537.1
cases for every 100,000 people a reduction from the 545.9 recorded on Wednesday. For

The local authority with the highest infection rate for the seven days between January 23 and January 29 was Newport with 830.8 cases per 100,000, followed by Carmarthenshire with 671.2 and Torfaen with 640.7.
Hywel Dda Health Board shows 331
cases reported today with 212 in Carmarthenshire, 85 in
Pembrokeshire and 34 in Ceredigion. As of February 2 there were 1,105 people in general and acute hospital beds with coronavirus
(confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a rise on the 1,050 on January 31.
