There
have been 22,317 new cases of coronavirus reported today by PHW
bringing the total cases to 668,473. There were 8 coronavirus
deaths reported by PHW so the total number of deaths has risen to 6,589. The latest seven-day infection rate across
Wales, based on the seven days up to December 30, has risen from 1,415 cases per 100,000 people on
Sunday to 1,986.5 on Tuesday. This is the

Infection rates in each local authority have risen. The highest rate in Wales for the seven days between was Rhondda Cynon Taf with 2,638.6 per 100,000, followed by Merthyr Tydfil with 2,557.8, and Blaenau Gwent with 2,503.5.
Hywel Dda Health Board has reported 2,266
cases today with 1213 in Carmarthenshire, 657 in
Pembrokeshire and 396 in Ceredigion. It was also reported today that as of December 31 there were 697 people in general and acute
hospital beds with coronavirus (confirmed, suspected, and recovering), a rise
on the 604 reported on December 29.
There were 33 people in ventilated
intensive care beds with Covid-19 on December 31, only one more than on
December 29.
