A further 48 people have died
with coronavirus in Wales, reports Public Health Wales. It means there has been a total of 4,274 deaths with Covid since the pandemic began. A total of 1,172 people also tested positive,
taking the total to 180,161.
On Sunday the highest number of new cases was
reported in Cardiff, where 175
people were confirmed to have Covid-19. This was followed by Wrexham, where 90 new cases have been confirmed, and
neighbouring Flintshire with 87.
Wrexham continues to have the highest Covid case
rate in Wales, although the seven-day average continues to fall, from a recent
high of 922.3 cases per 100,000. It now stands at 825.3 per 100,000 people, compared to the Wales average of 321.9, with the high case rate blamed
on the new, more easily spread, variant.
Flintshire had also seen a spike in cases in recent weeks, although this has now fallen to 529.1. Bridgend has the third highest case rate, at 447.5. Nine of Wales’s local authorities have case rates above the Welsh average.
