Left Jab or Right Jab...Just get the vaccinations done...

62 people have died in Wales after contracting coronavirus, reports Public Health Wales; it takes the total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic to 3,919, its latest figures show. PHW also reported a further 2,373 new Covid infections in Wales taking the total number of cases to 168,094.

Numbers show that there were 20 deaths in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board area and 12 in the Hywel Dda area, 11 in Cardiff and Vale, 8 in both Swansea Bay University Health Board, 8 in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and 3 in the Betsi Cadwaladr area. There appears to be no let up in the number of families losing loved ones.

Today's concern include the possibility that Coronavirus rules could return to supermarkets in Wales as questions had been raised from people expressing anxiety about a lack of visible protections in supermarkets.

The Welsh Government is in talks with stores about social-distancing measures, perhaps a return to the rules governing supermarkets as they were during the first lockdown. Among measures previously used was a strict limit of the numbers of people allowed in a store and from my own personal experience rules lately have been extremely relaxed and there does not seem to be any compliance with the guidelines issued for everyone’s safety.

Sanitising stations are available at the entrance of every store, one-way markings are clearly displayed, but sadly on a large number of occasions they are completely ignored by shoppers.

Below are the infection rates and new case figures for Llanelli and the local areas of Carmarthenshire for the seven days up to January 3 (area: infection rate / new cases):

More than 14,000 people had their first dose of the Covid-19 jab in Wales in the past week, the latest figures show. It takes the numbers on the priority list to have got the Pfizer-BioNTech jab to 49,403 since the rollout started on 8 December. But Wales is lagging behind the rest of the UK so far, with a lower proportion of people getting a first dose. But reports say that by next week, 60 GP practices and 20 centres would be vaccinating.

Remember: Death from Covid-19 has been a sad end for thousands and their families and sadly there will be more to come...

I wear my mask to protect you… You wear your mask to protect me…

Wise Up and Mask Up...
