A further 27 people have died in
Wales with coronavirus, Public Health Wales has reported today. It takes the total number of deaths with Covid reported since
the start of the pandemic in Wales to 4,486.
There were also 1,079
new Covid infections, taking the total number of cases to 186,915. There were 9 deaths in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health
Board area which covers part of the South Wales valleys, 6 in Swansea Bay Health Board area, 5 deaths in the Aneurin Bevan Health Board
area which covers the old Gwent region and Caerphilly County. 3 deaths were reported in the Betsi
Cadwaladr Health Board area which covers North Wales, 3 deaths in Cardiff Vale Health Board area and 1 death in the Powys Health Board area.
Case rates remain highest in Wrexham with 609.8 cases per 100,000 people in the past week, followed by 453.6 cases in Flintshire, compared with the all-Wales average of 260.9. Wrexham has recorded a further 126 new Covid cases, followed by 105 in Cardiff, 85 in Carmarthenshire and 72
in Flintshire.
More than 2.3m
tests have been carried out in Wales, with 15,780 carried out on Friday.
The area of Carmarthenshire where Covid-19 is
currently spreading fastest is Llanelli Bigyn, while the part of the county
with the lowest infection rate is Llandeilo, Llangadog and Manordeilo.
